Church on the Street
Since 1991, groups from Woodstock have gone to Atlanta to serve the growing population of hurting people living on the streets. While in Atlanta, we move around to multiple locations to hand out food, give encouragement, pray with folks, and share the Gospel with the men and women that we serve in the homeless community.
Waymark Foster
Waymark is a Georgia 501(c)3 nonprofit that gives hope to youth in foster care through camps, skills training, and mentoring designed to provide support, skills, and success in the transition from state care to adulthood. In North Metro Atlanta, only Waymark builds comprehensive relationships with youth from childhood to adulthood (ages 6 and up).
Clark’s Christmas Kids
For 31 years in a row, DFCS has partnered with Clark Howard, WSB-Radio and St. Vincent de Paul to operate Clark’s Christmas Kids to ensure that children and older youth in Georgia’s foster care system have at least one gift on Christmas morning.
Care-a-Thon
The 95.5 WSB Care-a-Thon is a 37-hour radio marathon broadcast on WSB. WSB donates the airtime to showcase and highlight the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. During the 37 hours, patients and staff share their stories of hope and inspiration. To date, the 95.5 WSB Care-a-Thon has raised more than $28 million for research, fellowship, and family support services at the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center.
ASPCA
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world.
Our organization was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and are proud to boast more than 2 million supporters across the country.
The ASPCA’s mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”
Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) offers medical humanitarian assistance to people based solely on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation. Our teams of doctors, nurses, logisticians, and other frontline workers are often among the first on the scene when peoples’ lives are upended by conflict, disease outbreaks, or natural or human-made disasters.
The decision to respond is based solely on our independent assessment of medical needs. We work to ensure that our teams can reach people in need without restriction and provide aid directly.
American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision of ending cancer as we know it, for everyone. We are the only organization working to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
