The Anderson metro reached 91 degrees recently and this is an indication of the extent of the summer heat and humidity that will only get worse as the months go by. This would also serve as a reminder for homeowners to prepare, as this article reported of the efforts made in one community in Marietta:
CAYCE, S.C. — Volunteers from Electric & Gas Co. are helping make homes more energy efficient for the summertime heat.
On Thursday, SCE&G is kicking of its spring “Weatherization Blitz.” Company employees and representatives from the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and the Aiken/Barnwell Community Action Agency are helping weatherize five homes across the state.
Volunteers are starting Thursday with a home in Cayce. The work will include caulking, weather-stripping, painting and replacing doors and windows.
Weatherstrip or caulk your windows to prevent heat from coming in to your home.
